Stalker Call of Pripyat Review

Introduction

Stalker Call of Pripyat is the sequel to Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. The game is set in and around Pripyat which is by the Chernobyl Nuclear power plant disaster. The first Stalker game Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl was about a mind control device in the Nuclear power plant. In the sequel you play as an American soldier sent to investigate the crashes of helicopters in the zone. It is set after the events of Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl.  The main character from the first game Shadow of Chernobyl makes an appearance in the game. Its a good idea to Play Shadow of Chernobyl first to understand the story better.

Gameplay

Stalker Call of Pripyat is very atmospheric and scary, although most missions are outdoors and do not have claustrophobic feel of Shadow of Chernobyl missions in labs.

There is lots of attention to detail on the large map with lots of locations based on real world buildings. Exploring is also an important part of the game for finding hidden stashes of equipment. There are a few new mutants in the zone from the first Stalker game which is a good addition.

Stalker Call of Pripyat was releases after Shadow of Chernobyl and has improved graphics with no loading between different areas. The inventory screen is improved with the ability to assign common used items to F1, F2, F3, and F4 keys. The PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is also improved. There is no longer a mission list so it can be difficult to know which missions need to be completed. It is very easy to miss out doing missions by not speaking to the right people. It’s a good idea to play the game twice to get the most out of it.

Conclusion

Overall this is a very good game with good replay value because there are so many different people to get missions from. If you enjoyed Shadow of Chernobyl I definitely recommend playing Stalker Call of Pripyat.

Score 8/10
