Team Fortress 2 Update

There was a major Team Fortress 2 update today which added with new weapons, hats, trading system and microtransactions. It is now possible to buy the items you want instead of waiting for them to be dropped randomly.
items available through in game cash shop
All updates for Team Fortress 2 and other valve games up till now have been free. Is this the begining microtransactions being used in more Valve titles?

  14. I guess if you really want a hat bad enough you'll pay for it, haha. All items they sell (except for stuff like paint cans) can still be crafted or traded so I think this is a great update.

  19. Seems a bit expensive. Unfortunately, thanks to Blizzard (imo) they appear to have found out that some gamers will pay for absolutely anything.

  22. I am honestly SO disappointed to see where gaming is going these days. Soon almost every game will have microtransactions if it means more money.
